Coach Joseph Schubarth graduated from Douglas County High School where he played football, wrestled, and ran track.  After graduating high school, Coach attended Mesa State College where he played Offensive line and was a 4-year letter winner.  While at Mesa State, Coach earned a Bachelor’s degree in Human Performance and Wellness.  Coach continued his education, earning a Master’s degree in Special Education at Grand Canyon University in Arizona.  Coach Shubarth earned his Principal Licensure at Regis University in 2017.

Coach Schubarth began his Coaching and Education careers here in Douglas County.  He began teaching at Sierra Middle School, and moved to Special Education following completion of his Master’s degree in 2011.  Coach Schubarth transitioned to the Dean of Students position at Ponderosa High School in 2020.

Coach began his coaching career as the Assistant Football and Lacrosse Coach at Douglas County High School.  He was also an Assistant and Head Wrestling coach at Ranch View Middle School, Castle Rock Middle School, before becoming an assistant at Douglas County High.  Coach Schubarth’s last coaching position at Douglas County High was as the Offensive Coordinator.  2020 was Coach Schubarth’s first season coaching at Ponderosa High School.
