I hope the beginning of school is going as well as possible for everyone. Looking ahead you probably won’t hear much from me as often. As things begin to ramp up around the first of the year that will probably change but in the meantime please see the updates below. If you have any questions on this please let me know.
Card Delivery
Good news, the Pondo Cards are here!! We will be assembling your cards into a packet along with some additional info and will make them available in Coach Cohen’s office this week. He will have them starting on Tuesday so everyone should be in the building at some point to get them between Tuesday and Thursday. Please make sure your son picks them up next week.
In the packet will be the following:
- 20 cards (or more for the few that were able to sell more than 20)
- The list of addresses of the folks that purchased from you
- An invoice showing what is still owed (if anything) for activities from this past spring and summer as well as any unsold cards along with the QB club fees that will be due once the season starts
- An instruction sheet with due dates as well as a links for accepting a CC payment for a card is necessary
- An envelope to turn collected cash and checks for cards that still need to be sold
That’s right if you still have not sold all 20 of your cards we will be giving you the remaining cards to finish that effort. The $600 that these cards generate is vital for the program and we need to ensure that everyone does their part in this effort. Any remaining funds for unsold cards will be due on 9/25. Those funds can be turned in via the provided envelope or can be paid via a sales page on Cheddar up through a Credit Card or eCheck.
Future Fund Raising
As you all experienced, card fundraising this year was quite a challenge. Card sales make up nearly 50% of our fundraising in normal years. Given the challenges, we wanted to take this opportunity to review our fundraising opportunities and seek your input on how we move forward for the 2021-2022 year. In the past, our fundraising efforts have been limited to:
- Discount Cards (aka Pondo Cards)
- Mattress Fundraiser
- QB Club Dues
- Safeway/King Soopers/AmazonSmile
- Corporate Sponsors
Members of the Booster Club have looked into some other options however, none of them net the same income as the current discount card vendor. While we just completed our card sales for this year, now is the time to begin thinking about next year so that we can be ready when we need to be. Below are some of the options that have been brought forward as alternatives to the current fundraising methods. Please provide your feedback, and any other suggestions that we can look into before making our decision for next year.
- Pondo Cards (with the same vendor)
- Entertainment Book/App (similar to current discount card but National/Canada)
- This fundraiser does not net the same income so more “units” would have to be sold per household
- Casino Night
- Golf Tournament
- Fishing Tournament
- Fill the Helmet
- 50/50 Raffle (at each home game)
- IMPORTANT: Requires a license from the state (it’s considered gambling)
- Kiss the (fill in the blank) raffle
- IMPORTANT: Requires a license from the state (it’s considered gambling)
- If we meet a certain goal, specified people (coaches, players, etc.) have to “kiss the xxxx” (e.g. kiss the pig)
- Mattress Fundraiser
- Silent Auction
- Corporate Sponsors
- Safeway/King Soopers/AmazonSmile
- None – Simply increase QB Club Dues to cover it all
7 on 7 League
We will be joining a 7 on 7 league along with a bunch of other schools in the area. The cost for this is $165/player but please know that if you are unable to pay there are ways the QB Club can help support you. Coach Cohen has been communicating with the players though their Hudl account and wants everyone to participate that is interested. Please note, if your son is not getting any messages through his Hudl account he needs to turn his notifications on. There have been a lot of things sent to the players that don’t come through me. Once the registration for this league is up and running I will let you know.
2021 Grads hoping to play College sports
FYI – Information on NCAA Eligibility as it relates to COVID. Students needing transcripts sent to the NCAA should still make that request in Naviance as that is how we process all transcripts.
